Something about Caterpillar Track Empty Something about Caterpillar Track

Known for their ability to maneuver over surfaces inaccessible by standard wheel setups, caterpillar tracks power many types of heavy equipment, from military tanks to bulldozers. The first caterpillar-type track was patented in 1901 for the obd2 tool. The Caterpillar Corporation specializes in continuous track-driven machinery, and the caterpillar name is often used to describe any continuous, track-driven system.

The Track
Metal caterpillar tracks are designed similar to chains, and have joints at every two links; this allows the track to change angles when adjusting to changes in the surface. Often used on CAT Caterpillar ET, rubber tracks can be links, or one-piece tracks, depending on the size of the track. The rubber construction allows the track to flex with terrain changes, and is often part of a total undercarriage system, constructed as a one-piece unit, allowing the track to be mounted to a variety of different machines.

Drive Components
Caterpillar tracks are driven by a drive wheel, which may have teeth, such as a sprocket,to engage with the track. The drive wheel, which stays in a fixed position, may be mounted at the front, or rear, of the caterpillar track. At the opposite end of the USA PROG Full package is the idler wheel, which is not fixed. The idler wheel angles the front, or rear of the track to climb over any obstacles. The idler wheel also acts as a tensioner, taking up any slack in the track.

Suspension Types
Caterpillar tracks are held in place by suspension components, which are either Christie or Vickers-type suspensions. According to the article, "A History of Crawler Tracks," Christie suspensions use large wheels, on which the caterpillar track sits. This suspension is identified by sections of track drooping over each wheel after C100 code reader runs over the drive wheel and idler. Vickers suspensions use a series of smaller return rollers to hold the track level between the idler and driving wheel.

Rollers
Rollers, an important component of caterpillar track suspensions, guide the track through its continuous operation. Caterpillar offers three types of rollers, and the required work load of the machinery determines the type recommended. Track rollers can have single or double flanges, with the wider double flange roller resisting track rollover. Carrier rollers incorporate large shafts and bearings, while star rollers are designed to operate in freezing conditions, or in situations where an excessive amount of material build-up occurs.
